About

Artist Statement

My current art work focuses on lines and how they create space and different shapes. I start with pencils, ink and microns and then create lines over lines to create space that appears boundless and encourages people to see different scenes and imagery. This process also leads to a visual dialogue for the viewer about what is in the image and what is not there. I spend a lot of time thinking about how I can create space and shapes using automatic drawing and very condensed line work. I create drawings that make an impact to the imagination. My drawings appear to be on the edge of something familiar but at the same time unfamiliar.
Color has become an important factor in my art work because it brings a new element into it and it a brings vibrancy, which creates value and dimension. I create shapes, forms and line work that is unique to me. I create art work that is both mechanical and organic to create a juxtaposition between them. My art work consists of very dramatic, erratic, meditative line work that gives off a stitching effect.
